For my Sister

I’m with you, little sister.
Like the day we first met and I smiled at your pretty brown face.
Like the times I sat in the stands cheering you on with my fingers crossed,
Wishing and hoping and praying

I’m with you, little sister
Even when you think I don’t know and you forget that I was once little too
I’m with you when you can’t see me
Because distance won’t allow it and the world has her hands covering your eyes

I’m with you, little sister
Where you go to be alone,
Because it feels like you’re alone anyway
Where we laugh at the crazy things we used to do and no one gets us but us

No one gets us
Little Sister,
But I’m with you.
