Blood of a Nigerian, mindset of Americana,
A deadly, confident combination with its own equal shares of drama
On one hand, my heart and mind are split in two different places
At the same time, I feel like I’m trying to run hard in two different races
With their own different paces and meeting all these different faces,
Rocking both Ankara and nice suits, call them both open and shut cases
With their own kinds of dress and tennis shoes wit fancy shoelaces
I’m far from broke really, ‘cause I tend to overreach when it comes to expensive tastes
Yet don’t get it twisted, I’m proud of my lineage, my traditions fuel my ambitions
To be the best that I can be, lowkey just one of my many missions
A few more include those pertaining to peace and prosperity
Shine light for my people here in this new-age struggle, giving my clan clarity
Bringing hope and prominence to all of my people in need
For a new day is upon us this time around, time for the rise of a new breed
Officially in high school, but simply bred to believe and succeed
Yeah that blue and gold I rep, but that green and white I breathe
‘Cause believe you me, this time right now truly is the best
Ready to go hard in the boulevard like no one else…
So blessed to strive to be the best, oh yes
Nah, I’m not a gangster yet, but it feels damn good to be Nigerian in the U.S.
