Nightingale

A man and a woman as sweet as can be,

A story of love and setting things free.

I will never forget you, not ever says she,

our story is a part of history.

Life is not a paragraph says he,

Full of antidotes to cure broken hearts and memories.

With a gaze as blank and pitiless as the sun,

He bid a farewell and said he was done.

Sitting and watching the pink sunset fade,

She sat and gazed as she withered away.

There then was a bang that shot through the night,

He came back balling, breathing hard and shaking from fright.

There before him she lay lifeless and pale,

When swiftly flew by a brown nightingale.

He knew it was her, such a beautiful sight,

As it perched and sang the story of their life.
