Not that little girl I used to be

I’m growing up, mommy

Can’t you see?

I’m not that little girl I used to be.

You brushed my hair and tucked me in,

Made me laugh for hours on end.

You kissed my boo boos when I fell down

Mommy you were always there.

There to show me through the years

To care for others and the things

They hold dear

Because of you, mommy

I know right from wrong

But I’m not that little girl I used to be

I have grown and now I know

How to brush my hair and sleep

On my own

I’m not that little girl I used to be

It’s time for me to spread my wings

To find out who I’m meant to be

We knew the day would come

And it came too soon

I’m not that little girl I used to be

Don’t you see?

I’m ready to explore

Don’t worry, mommy

I’ll come back, you’ll see

You gotta let me go

I’m not that little girl I used to be
