Not a Love Story

My scars tell a story you don't want to hear

Since you insist, please open your ears

But beware, this tale is prone to draw tears

A perfect little girl

In a perfect little world

Nothing is wrong, of this she is sure

Things begin to change

Lives rearrange

Now this little girl is labeled as strange

Getting so sick of all the criticism

No idea how to deal with 'em

Her thoughts began to border on sin

Soon she was drawn to the blade

To make the harsh words fade away

The pain replaced her feeling afraid

Fly high and forget the pain

Let reality go down the drain

In her own world, life's just a game

It turned out it just wasn't enough

Fitting in is the only way for her to feel tough

Seeking connection through meaningless touch

Not good enough, what to do now?

Let herself disappear, along with the clouds

The perfect number allows her to feel proud

Time told that it never does last

Forget, erase, destroy the past

Happiness is so far out of her grasp

What do you do when nothing will work?

Life demolished, it lies in the dirt

Death soon becomes a frequent flirt

Who do you tell when you want it to end?

Tons of people around, none of them friends

Soon the two worlds are beginning to blend

Deep, deep down, she pulls out the strength

Began to hold on, keeping the faith

Healing will come, no guaranteed grace

On a long, hard road

Finally lightened the load

Beginning to learn to go with the flow

Healthy and happy, the scars still remain

But in the end, much wisdom was gained

The future held greatness, no need to strain
