Old people, teachers, mentors, oh my!

Mentors are wise beyond their years.

They teach, yet their job isn't done.

Elders, with their wrinkled skin ask, "What did you learn today?"

We answer in our various ways.

"Thank you for what you have done with me!"

I say to the elderly.

Yet they teach me even more,

than I ever asked for!

Elderly people shape a person,

to be the best they can be.

Thank you, elders!

Knowing how much you care,

brings joy to share.

To celebrate the times of good

and to flourish in my hood.

For they know pain,

yet they have gained.

Now they see us,

young and spry.

To see the world,

with our own eyes.

Though, the young need help.

You know,

that whatever comes their way,

there is a surprise at the end of the day.

So, thank you for showing me your kindness and love.

For they have been an inspiration from above.

Elders mentor us,

no matter who they are.

They could be here, near, or afar.

Yet they show us one thing.

To have joy in everyday bringings.

To be wise in our choices,

that will help us have our own voices.

So, I say to you once more.

Thank you elders.

For you have been lead welders on my life.

Due to your teachings, I do not hold strife.
