One Job to Change my Life

I have been a Metro State student since the year 2009. I moved from Grand Junction to Denver after graduating high school my junior year in order to pursue a higher education and better opportunity for my family. I am a child of four and since the age of 16 have been assisting along with my older brother to support my mother and younger siblings. It wasn’t easy at first but working 40 plus hours and being a full time student I feel has really helped me become a more educated, responsible and time managed person. All of my school expenses have been paid with help from financial aid grants, school loans and out of pocket expenses seeing how I do not have a father and my mom has no income on an annual basis. Providing a roof for my siblings has always been a top priority but never did I give up on my education. I have never taken a semester off or even a part time semester in order to graduate as fast as I can to begin a career that will provide a stable career for my family and self. Currently, I am on my last leg of graduating and should hopefully be done by December. I am a Business Management and  Modern Languages with an emphasis in Spanish student that even though under my circumstances of working full time and providing for my family, choose to excel in my education and get the most out of this great university by double majoring. I plan on getting into the banking industry with my degree since I have previously worked at Bank of the West but was forced to quit because of conflicts with my school schedule. I enjoyed helping other people with their banking needs and had the opportunity to help out a lot of Spanish speaking guests who had difficulty communicating with the bankers. With my Spanish, I plan on helping connect cultures that are separated by language barriers and the banking industry allows me to do that directly while working in that field. I am a son of immigrant parents and know how difficult it has been for my mom to get me as far as I have come. Once I graduate, I plan on returning the favor to the Spanish community by becoming a go to person that has an education for support or help in any way that I can assist. With the help of this scholarship, the extra income will help me commute to and from school and will allow me the opportunity to have more time to study for classes and really dedicate all I have in accomplishing these harder upper division management classes that I know with some support I will be able to overcome in no time. Thank you for your consideration and time.
