To Our Women

“Husband strangles wife over domestic dispute”

Witnesses say they heard yelling getting clearer
The community is shocked and never expected this terror
A husband was angry over losing his kids to his wife
He drove eight blocks to take her life
He broke into her house and broke many things
She came downstairs and the fat lady sings
He knocks her down on the carpet
At three in the morning the air remained scarlet
He strangles her on their couch
Blood filling up in her mouth
At three in the morning she had left this life
Why do we do this to our women?

“Elderly woman beaten in her own home”

The most gruesome so far
Her face left with bruises and scars
A 76 year old woman sleeping safe and sound
Hears an intruder and looks around
An angry man stands at her side
Eyes full of evil ready to strike
Breaking her bones as she shrieks in pain
The elderly woman cries and faints
Her heart still beating, but on the brink of failure
Why do we do this to our women?

“Missing girl found abused and dirty”

A six year old weakly sits in darkness behind a tire wheel
The cops come to comfort her, but they saw her ordeal
A man abducted her from her suburban address
Got her to his home and made her undress
He slept with her and locked her in darkness
Her abuser was heartless
Every escape attempt
Meant more time spent
And when he became angry over a tough week
He tortured the little girl sitting weak
And he laughed as he put a knife to a little girl’s cheek
What madman takes pleasure from a young girl’s shrieks?
For eight long years she remained missing
Why do we do this to our women?
