Paying for Attention

Stand up!

Yeah you,

Stand up!

Do our schools need to be compacted

With injustices?

Why do we sit still

And let the system

Take care of it?

We know,

We all

Know

The system is corrupt.

Filled

With loopholes.

Only the few with the

Right colored skin

Can escape the shackles of

The law.

It begins in our schools

In the eyes of defenseless children

Molded

To what we want them to be,

What we think they

Should be,

Not who they think they'll become.

You think this not to be true?

The slumped hooded figure in the back of the class,

Who do you think he'll become?

A wanna-be gangster who knows only how to hurt and kill?

How about the one in the front of the class?

An upright pencil ready being,

What will he be?

The CEO of your favorite name brand clothes?

What if you were only right because that's what society wanted them to be?
