Perfectly Proud

They tell me keep on trying

But I can t see why

I am tired of searching

Tired of acting out a lie

Is this not who I’m supposed to be

Because I don’t understand

If my life is not for me

Please show me who I am

I have been the sweet  young daughter

I have been the grateful friend

I have taken every blow life gave me

Always been the one to bend

And after all this time

Every heart break

Each and every lie

Im still here chasing my dreams

So I will be what I feel

Chase what I know to be real

I will climb the tallest mountain

See a sky of red and orange and teal

And I will scream who I am out loud

I may never be perfect, no

But Ill be perfectly proud
