In the Pit of the Night

My breath halts
A quiet gasp escapes my lips
The bones in my chest break
My limbs quiver and shake

All feeling is lost

Panic shoots through me
I yearn for air 
My lungs feel like dust 
My chest full of fear

I breath again
I breathe as a infant seconds after birth
My body quakes as its need for air is slowly met

I am alive...I think
