Please, start talking.

Ready your seat be uncomfortably shifted

For unpleasant insight That i have been gifted.

Oft' Underestimate the power of talking

For many of us speech comes easy as walking

Endlessly chirping in comfort we sit

Though come certain subjects like sparrows we flit.

In conversation unwittingly choosing

The shape of the world with the words we are using.

Familiar topics of weather and snow

However like plants need manure to grow

An unpleasant feeling on eggshells we tread

But by pushing through it awareness is spread.

Sometimes we call out a safe ear hard to find

Isolation's so toxic to those sick of mind.

Under the carpet we're swept and we rot

We get on with "normal" yet feel we've been shot.

so much shame and such guilt is felt in depression

But problems not shared soon become an obsession.

Thoughts swirling and lacking in clarity

Readily accepted as just Part of me

Eating you up with no clemency

Cobwebs entangling identity.

So rarely in banter this snake gets a mention

But his is a venom that needs more attention.

This anguish retention

Of secret extension

An unknown dimension

A lethal intention

Of infinite tension

Beyond comprehension

So why the contention

On suicide prevention.

But let me assure you with new found elation

Between me and my illness there is separation.

Mental illness can blur lines of sickness and health

Burrows right into your own sense of self.

It's so unaccepted to show signs of weakness

But sharing out loud is a strength not a meekness.

We keep all our garbage in bags in our homes

But everyone has garbage and you're not alone.

Acknowledge you're sick and it is not benign

Just like smoking will kill you if given the time.

How serious it is? you're about to be shown

Less people die of war violence alone

Kills more humans now than breast cancer

Fear not though my fellows for I have the answer!

It's not some drug nor a magical cure

The key is in conversations I'm sure

So take a minute to pause chat about football

It takes but a moment to do something useful.

I tell you it's easy now here's what you say

My friend let me ask you,, are you ok?
