A Poetic Message to Meghan Trainor

Pride does not go hand in hand with disgrace

You're a beautiful girl as you are

And your words have spread very far

But they are not synonymous with your beauty

I've heard your hateful effigy

Aimed like a knife at those with my similarity

You're nearly three years older than me

But why does it matter that I wear a size 1 tee?

Do you hold the definition of "underweight"

An open invitation to animosity and hate?

Life is not all fun and games when you're small

People shove more food at you than needed

Have you any idea at all?

Do you treat us as you'd like to be treated?

I'm cold year round and making the best

But I'd never score another like a graded test

I did not ask for a body of bones

Or your conspiring input

But this is how He dealt my cards

So please allow me to rock it

Don't try to hide what you've already spewed with contradiction

You've pounded it into our heads like a work of nonfiction

If you were truly proud your head would be high

Unecessary is the sport of shaming we who pass by

I'm not plastic because of my visible ribs

Such an assumption is utterly primitive

You must fancy taking advantage of your skill

And bringing us down to your tropospheric level

There are other ways to cultivate your passion

So take to the stars, use your imagination

Embrace the spirit of true creation

You've got people watching

Millions of teens are listening

We are all as beautiful as you

Even if we have less meat

Do not take away from anyone's God-given grace

But remember these simple words

Pride does not go hand in hand with disgrace

Think we can get Miss "All About That Bass" to see this?
