Precious Time

Location

Birth is characterized by the second, minute, hour, and year you were born

Your parents admired your innocent face

A blessing they would say as you were torn

Between your parent’s loving embrace

The minute you could walk

Wandering off into the woods until dawn

Your parents would constantly stare at the clock

And wander when their precious child will spawn

The start of a new school year was a new beginning for all

Your parents would guide you to your bus stop

A set of responsibilities awaiting you overall

As you eagerly awaited the school that was nestled on the hilltop

Freedom was now all you asked for

You were a teenager that was able to handle any problem

Your parents would cause an uproar

And offer to you their parental wisdom

The year of denial and confusion were all over

You were now the graduating senior

Your parent’s eyes both a blur

When they remember the days that were

Now heading off to college

You hold on to both of your parent’s hands

And thank them for the privilege

Of raising you so grand

Your parent’s wipe off their cheeks

And wave their final goodbye

Remembering that time in parenthood was unique

The recount of memories made them cry
