PROFESSOR DREW

Ashley McDonough

Leaving the city where I’m from

To Run

This is the place where life has begun

Or so they say

Run and chase your dreams

Be that it may

But what am I to say when I’m just striving for an A

Paper after paper

Exam after exam

Papers marked with red ink

Making me feel worthless than I KNOW I AM

All nighters, red bull became my bestfriend

But in the end for what?  A C ……again

As I look down at the paper my heart begins to shatter

Because I put my all into this only to receive a “could be better”

As I think about all the things I should say and should do

I put my pride aside , agree and request a REDO

These professors don’t understand what modern day college is like

Long gone are the days of simply read and write

We now have orgs, and shows and other obligations

But I simply tell myself Ashley just be patient

And I’m not alone, and I know I’m not

I’m writing this for the men and women giving up

Because I thought about it too trust me I did

But my dreams and goals are bigger than any grade they give

So I continue to grind harder than the day before

Cause this will only lead to open doors

Because I plan to change the world, and pursue my purpose

So a grade from a Professor does not make me worthless

I will live out my dream and fulfill my destiny

So that seventy does NOT and will NEVER define me

And will NEVER define you because your more than that

KNOW your worth and never settle

Please remember that

So stay strong

Hold on

And don’t give up

Just give it time

Stay on the grind

And don’t you rush

Because when its time your dreams will unfold in front of you

And that D won’t even matter thank you Professor Drew.
