Raise the Mask

Laughing and smiling shouting and crying

Busting jokes inside emotions are flying.

Somewhat of a simple schmuck having to cover up all the stuff that has been adding up.

This simple boy with a grin has dreams and goals

Some of them basic and some of them be bold,

Like wedding rings, kids and super bowls,

I want to go on this trip but too many potholes.

Are in the way fake laughs and smiles are given away,

Behind the curtain is a young man with a childlike wonder,

This eager fat boy is dying of hunger.

Yet you see a young man, who is happy and satisfied,

A boy who has never stressed over a girl, never cried.

This mask is thick and worn no love for it to adorn,

A mask that sits on this boy’s face only to show that in his face,

A mask made to be what seems to be happy to keep him in place.

As I take of the mask, I ask you to move aside,

For a boy has died and a King has rised.
