Remember

Ecclesiastes 1:9 New King James Version (NKJV)

That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.

Remember

Wintertime when I was young

Cold and wet and sometimes snow

Ice would cover the ponds and trees

and skates were tied to our old shoes

It was hard to keep these centered

as around we tried to go

More on the sides of the shoes somehow

and about speed, we had no clue

At home one room with a stove

that someway burned on coal

Day and night we filled it up

to keep some heat in the house

No one complained about that

for satisfaction had a chosen role

That would keep the family as one

although there was just one spouse

Dad had died during the war in a place to us unknown

Glimmers of hope in the eyes of Mom kept all of us just going

We did not ever worry it seemed the food that Opa had grown

Kept us all happy for sure as we were strangers to the knowing

Now I’m getting grey and old, up in years they call it

Children seem still the same in their wants and wishes

Some talk about what they can get and others throw a fit

about things not too important and focus on what they’re missing

A hand of a child seems so small and should easily be filled

In the hand of an adult, there seems to be no room at all

They are hanging on to priorities and selfishness instilled

as they at about any cost want fulfillment in their call

Selfishness to the core for sure of most of the world problems

Pride of leaders the foundation cemented in hearts of stone

At the expense of the helpless as their lives are sacrifices for them,

who love man’s adoration being dried out to the bone

What has changed? Is it just me …
