Rumors

No one ever said life would be easy.
But they didn't say we'd lie either.
They say, "Oh just try hard and you'll succeed."
But what about the hundreds working minimum wage?
You think they didn't try?

Not everyone gets a chance to be a doctor.
Not everyone get that lucky break.
Not everyone knows how to live
When someone falls below.

So we need something more,
to get us through the day
So we know that when we take that step,
we aren't join to tumble into debt
and depression.

So there's more to this learning
than formulas, and grammar,
and keywords.
There's an understanding we need.

An understanding of how the world works,
of what makes the gears turn,
what makes the fires burn
of when it'll be our turn.

Until then, we're running blind,
toward a fate we can't define.
and no number of formulas can figure out
how to make food from thin air.
