Run Silent, Run Deep

Location

Pressed against the cold metal

The pressure outside is mounting

Turning the rudder with the pedal

The torpedo is away and we are counting

Scouring the Atlantic in our U-Boat

We found this British merchant ship

The torpedo has struck and she won't float

The sonar allows us to hear her rip

Our joy quickly turned to fear

Periscope up for just a peep

A British destroyer is getting near

Alarm! Dive, run silent, run deep

You have to redifine the word Mine

Stop taking your time while walking this fine line

Of feelings you have let intertwine your mind

You've been hurt so many times and been told lies

No peace of mind.

Stop ignoring the signs this time

Your eyes have become blind

To things the universe has aligned

Specifically designed to incline

You to become unkind to the situation

Which you have fallen behind

Your state of mind is clearly confined.
