Sarah

You're a mixtape

of studded tee shirts,

loud music,

and just enough vulnerability

for no one to see.

You've got the walk

and the talk

and the onyx hair

that looks like the night, but even the sky's got a lot of secrets.

So it's okay if you like high heels

or if you really do dispise them

like you told us.

No one minds

if you take off your shoes

and stay a while

because everyone enjoys

good company

and yours is some of the best.

Just make sure

that you love the shoes you're wearing

and never be bashful

if you ask for a nightlight

because it gets dark sometimes

and no one likes to

look into the abyss

with nothing

but their own hand to hold.

Remember that

your shirts are stdded with diamonds,

your music is never loud enough,

and the night

never looks as terrifying

when you let someone else look into it

with you.
