Alone and afraid, lost and confused

No one to love me, No one to hold me 

We wonder what we did to deserve this

We tried our best to please everyone

Did we not do that 

 

You started out loving us 

Then your love turned to hate

You starved us and beat us

Left us out in the cold 

Chained us up and we tried harder to love you

Did we not do that

 

Now we are locked in cages 

Afraid of humane contact 

Wanting to love another 

We tend to hide in the cages

We try to show we want to be loved

Do we do not do that 

 

We cry out for help 

Looking for a forever home 

Kids to run and play with 

Someone to love us 

So we try harder and wag our tails more 

Maybe one day we will get that forever home
