Secrets of the mask

Sweet chimes of birds in the morning sunrise
As a man awakes and hurries to put on his disguise.
A smile that lights up a room, dancing to an upbeat tune
Secretly feels his world crashing down like a monsoon.
Those around flock to him like geese being fed bread.
Each sharing words with him but never saw the war in his head
His brain trusting none
But his heart loving one.
Each day he fades away with the setting sun
Removing the mask once surrounded by none
The only thought that drowns the screams from inside
The thought of again holding his bride.
The smell of her sweet perfume
And the sound of her laugh echoing throughout the room.
Her smile as beautiful as the moon
But now she flies; her light gone too soon.
