Self-righteous (satire)

Acts 24:25       New English Translation

25 While Paul was discussing righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for now, and when I have an opportunity, I will send for you.”

Self-righteous (Satire)

Restricting rules of selfishness imposed by the real me

The part I don’t recognize is much better than my clone

The one I follow day and night for I chose to be free

And that my friend, I prove before the day seems done

Read my lips. I never lie. My life is an open book

Truth, my friend, resides in here from cover to cover

I am not what you think I am, deprived to the core

God made me this way, and I am a simple  lover

I am human, you know, with some flaws here and there

Mostly good and a little bad, but we are all that way

The bible? Well! Is it not written by men with spots like me?

So I do what appears good to me, and this is for what I pray.
