A Small Gesture

I had been drowning in the dark pool

thrashing around trying to find my way out

I almost have given up all hope I had

until a sparkling light pierced through the water

with the little stamina I had, I swam towards the light reaching the surface

gasping the air that I desperately needed as I can finally see

when I looked back at the light that showed the way out

it turns out it was a small flashlight connected to you

and though it was just a small gesture you gave me

it became my key to getting out of my abyss

even though I may not ever see you again

I thank you with all my heart

because I can finally start my road back home

where I feel alive and free once more
