Starlight

Far away from the well-beaten path

lies a lake that sparkles with the great moonlight.

Here I travel and stay in times of need,

to get away from all the pains of the day.

I walk along the path

around the moonlit lake,

thinking about the day,

and what lay ahead.

Most nights are spent staring at the lake

looking at my moonlit reflection

wondering how one out of billions

can make a difference.

Tonight however is different

as I stare into the water,

my reflection stares back at me

yet the moon is nowhere to be found.

I look up and notice

countless clouds in the sky,

but one star shines brightly through the clouds

with the strength of the moon.

That one night changed my life forever,

teaching me that one small star

can make as much a difference

in light as the moon.
