Stupid Shepherd

You stupid shepherd I am not your sheep
I'm not your property to beat and to keep
I'm no longer your puppet
I've cut my strings
I'm a bird flying far
You can't clip my wings
That power you had on me
Is now gone away
You can no longer guide me astray
You stupid shepherd I'm not your sheep
You can't beat me with your staff
And expect me not to speak
Because I'm standing now
My crutches are gone, my bandages clear
You boxed my ears yet I can still hear
You stupid shepherd I'm not your sheep
You beat me till I crumpled in a heap but now I stand
There's no limp in my walk
no stutter in my talk
No fear in my heart
Now that we are apart
You stupid shepherd I'm not your sheep
Your secrets now are not mine to keep
I stayed quiet for too long
And now I can speak
I can defend myself now
I can fight back your stones
Your pain is gone
there's no ache in my bones
You stupid shepherd I am not your sheep
I'm at the edge of the cliff
And I take my final leap
Because I don't know why
I gave you power inside
I opened my heart and you ripped out the beats
That metronome of life was my last secret to keep
But your grip has weakened your sword is loose
You can't use your strings of lies as my noose
You stupid shepherd I am not your sheep
The hole you dug for me may be deep
but I have learned to leap
I learned to dodge your bullets and blows
The reasons for my fading scars
No one will ever know
You were the only thing tethering me
But now I am free
You stupid shepherd I am not your sheep...
I am a wolf
