Submersion

Darkness encroaching. All around.

Pressure encircling. Up and down.

The water was once so tantalizing,

Drawing my body closer as it pulled out the tide.

But now, with total submersion,

My mouth flies open wide.

The salt burns my nostrils as I gasp for air.

My hair slow dances above me without a care.

The sound of waves crash in my ears,

And my eyes begin to blur with tears.

As the world begins to dim,

It seemed ironic this happened on a whim.
