The Sun Will Rise

She wore roses on her head,
and covered her face with her hair
Her world was tinted red,
and she sang without a care

To look at her, you'd never know
that on stage her spirit shone so bright,
she was a regular Marilyn Monroe
with the stars holding her dreams tight.

But offstage she wrote poetry and read books
She pondered the world with a tear or a smile
And she craved those secluded cozy nooks
where her dreams were safe to breathe for awhile.

She was amazed how nature came alive
when the sun chose to shine upon it.
She wondered how demons could arrive
in a place where so much beauty was writ.

She talked to God as she worked and ran
But she felt guilty for all the blessings she had
For all the hunger and pain in the land
And how can one be happy when so many are sad?

But she smiled and prayed, for what can you do?
She thanked God for everything, with tears in her eyes
And God told her something to get her heart through
He said, "When the earth is mine, the sun will rise."
