Tear

i stared into

the mirror. A shell

stared back, blank-eyed,

waiting,

praying for the day

that whispered into

my ears.

the whisper, full of

hope, promised me

a new land, one where I could

escape,

rid myself of the prison that

chained my

body to the ground.

the ground, a wicked

being. Dragging me in, luring us

from the depths of green-

eyed

envy, offering us a piece of its

irises in

exchange for total obedience.

the exchange, of which my small

hands could not

comprehend. Why

Why

Why must we stay here, withering

away to our early

demise?

its empty stare, its frozen

lips, an everlasting

glacier,

cracked. The sheet of

ice wobbled. It

tilted ever so slightly.

just enough for the false

lights to penetrate the

surface. the shell, the glacier

face,

crumbled, piece by

piece, falling and

falling into the watery ocean.

the ocean, embracing the

feeling of millions of pieces of

ice slamming into its

surface,

embracing the feeling

of its waves shredding

and building itself anew.
