There once was a girl

There once was a girl I knew

who was beautiful

I'm not talking about flawless features

but the ability to be so nieve to how many heads she turn

she thinks everyone is looking through her

the type of beauty that being extraordinary brings

because her simplicity is so sweet

There once was a girl I knew who

could speak so softly you would lean in to listen

but also was a girl that could speak so potent that you had to make sure it was the same person

her voice booming out conspiracies

rooted in her identity

but also the same voice that would be silenced by the insecurities her body brings

because boys don't like bodies that aren't given to them easily

don't value mind or emotion given to them easily

which makes her think she can't be loved

when love is one thing that has stemmed from my admiration of her

the aura she brings

the talent she has

the optimism she sees

I'm sitting here left to wonder what other people don't see in her

Why God took this guardian angel and placed the weight of the world on her shoulders
