They Say

“You’re selfish!”
“You’re no better than him.”
“You have no respect for anyone.”
“I have never met a girl more ill-behaved than you!”
“You need to fix your attitude.”
They said.
I say
look once, look twice, and look again
I say
I am who I am neither
Changed nor unchanged
I say
Why do you see what you want to see?
Why do you strive to find purpose against me?
I treat others as I deem them fit.
I respect those who respect me
I behave as I judge you
My attitude is concurrent
To who you are
NOW
I say
look once, look twice, and look again
They say
“You are very smart.”
“We’re proud of you.”
“We’re counting on you.”
“There are very few people in the world like you!”
“You’re the sweetest thing that has walked into this building
In a very long time.”
I say
look once, look twice, and look once more
