They say we are a divine race

But yet they smother our flame

They say we are all of one nation

Yet we aren't treated the same

They say we are one united for all

Yet i hear segregation still stands behind that wall

They say we aim for common good

Yet they throw all our people in their funded hoods

They say we are not colored

But a rainbow of different hues

Yet the darker hues are ridiculed

And defined as being called the letter "N"

They say we will not amount to anything

And it's nothing but trouble us coloreds bring

But they don't know us personally

We are more then the stereotypes they shove down our throats

So hard to bare we nearly choke

But

Through the harsh realities, and the struggles of our kin

That makes us a family of many blends

So don't let your skin define you

Even when others may doubt you

Because it's always the content of your character that defines you and your value.
