Through my brother's eyes

Location

Why is the world so loud,

How come everywhere I go I find a crowd.

Everyone wants to touch or look at me,

why can't I just have some space why can't  they let me be!

If I yell, stem or act out, bad behavior is all you see,

You don't realize how hard I work not to let the Autistic behavior define me.

There is so much more to the person before you,

So much that I can actually do!

I am an artist, athlete, friend and brother,

Who would not change places with another.

I would Never want someone else to feel this daily emotional and sometimes physical pain,

So I just keep attending classes to learn focus and re-train responses to my brain.

If you think its easy you are so wrong,

Its hard work, expensive and the hours are long.

My whole family has to help and they have all been affected by my diagnosis

All the financial, emotional and activity hardships that it poses.

So the next time you see a child screaming in a crowded, over lit store with music blaring,

Please remember this simple poem before you Judge and start staring.

I am so grateful my family endured the shopping trips and their constant ridicule,

You don't understand this but for me it's therapy and the perfect teaching tool.

My family loved me more than themselves and that is why I am doing so well,

it is my hope that one day I am released from the confides from where I currently dwell.

I will someday enjoy a hair cut,

I will roam the grocery store isles with smile and strut.

For now I will just do my best and be glad my family is willing to be at my side,

Walking with me head held high matching my step stride for stride.

So again I ask you, for my family, myself and my friends who share my plight

Don't judge please keep the advise to yourself and don't run off in fright.

My family just needs time they have been trained to handle the issues at hand,

I can assure you each outing has been well thought out and planned.

I am not broken I do not need to be fixed my behavior just needs to be more socially acceptable,

While I am learning please do your best to be respectable.

Together we can make the world a better place

Not just for one family but the whole entire race.
