The True Story of Red Riding Hood, Granny, and The Big, Bad, Wolf

We all know the story of Red Riding Hood.

How she was to go in the deep in the woods,

To deliver a basket of goodies to her grandmother.

A deed of her oh so good.

However, do you know the true story,

On how Red Riding Hood came to know the wolf?

Well let me tell you.

For I am one that knows that story,

Out of a number so few.

You see,

Red Riding Hood’s grandmother was never killed.

That was just a rumor.

The wolf was as kind as you and me.

The real story is that he was helping granny, you see.

The grandmother wanted to teach her granddaughter a lesson.

The grandmother knew her granddaughter was pokey.

Just like the puppy so pokey, in the story of the Pokey Little Puppy.

Grandmother decided to go and grab some help from anyone nearby.

The wolf found her in the woods so deep.

He almost missed her because she barely made a peep.

The wolf approached her oh so calmly,

But the grandmother was afraid,

almost to the point of yelling, “MOMMY!”

She almost jumped because he startled her so.

“Dear me, a wolf!” Grandmother said, shaken up by her startle!

The wolf explained he meant no harm.

Later, she told him she wanted to teach her granddaughter a lesson.

She needed some help and they planned something immediately.

Finally, everything was set.

When the wolf saw the granddaughter approach the cottage,

He had a lie in place.

He stands in the doorway and tells her that her granny was eaten.

She stood confused and looked cockeyed at the wolf.

“Yes, little girl. Your grandmother, is the one I ate.

This is because you were too late.” He says, slyly.

“Oh dear, oh dear! This is really what I get for not being timely?”

She asks, shyly and full of fear.

“Oh yes, my dear!” He says, showing his big and bad teeth.

“Oh no!” She says, her eyes big and glowing with tears.

”You mean my granny is inside that big fat belly?”

He slyly smiled and got ready to pounce.

She started to run when granny appeared.

“Granny!” Little Red yelled.

“I thought this big bad wolf had eaten you. His belly looking so swelled!”

“This is to teach you a lesson my dear. About timeliness.” Said granny.

Little Red understood and knew just what her grandmother was saying to her.

As they went on their merry way,

The grandmother thanked the wolf,

and told him to have a happy holiday.

As it was Christmas day.

As you can see,

There is a lesson within this story.

Of respect for others through timeliness.

No matter the circumstance.

The tall tale of the wolf killing granny,

Was only a mere rumor.

However, I bet you are glad that she is still alive and well,

At least to have a grand story to tell.
