The Uncaged Bird

Freedom is not a word.

It is not an emotional state.

It is a beautiful bird that cannot be caged.

There are many that cannot be caged.

There are many that will try to take it away.

They will burn it, humiliate it--and they'll even make it cry.

But no matter what someone says, you have to try.

You will be stabbed numerously, viciously,

So many times it'll stop the birds from singing.

But you cannot be that silent bird.

You must be the one that continues to fly, even when the wind blows hard.

Peace and freedom cannot be separate

Because without one, the other cannot exist.

You have to be the light that the world needs to see,

A bright light. Even the sun cannot compete.
