Uniqueness

Just a piece of the puzzle,

A photon of a ray.

Part of a whole,

One of a million shades of gray.

As a star among billions,

I blaze strong and bright.

I cast shadows like the moon,

With my blinding bright light.

I feel purer,

I am free.

Try as you may,

You'll never own me.

I'm set apart from the world,

Like a ghost from the earth.

I am overlooked

For my solemn-faced mirth.

But hear me now,

I am speaking out loud.

These words make me heard

Distinctly through the crowd.

Because I am who I am,

And not what you say.

I will not be molded,

Like a vase out of clay.

We are all people,

But we are not all the same.

So allow me my freedom

And leave me my name.
