(poems go here) "Paint me like one of your French girls" … no. Scratch that. Write about me instead. Don't hang me on the wall above your mantle, but color me into words on paper, lines flowing free. I am not a paint by numbers, do not describe me perfectly, instead, portray me accurately. Fill in description about how I stand and talk, how I use my hands to punctuate words and maybe even how I walk. The page will not judge immediately so don't hold back your thoughts. Maybe my nose crinkles when I laugh or when I stand, my knees bend back. Portray my imperfections with pride, the way I do when I point them out to you and laugh. Joke about how if all my freckles were to come together, I could finally be tan. Or, most of all, just transcribe what makes me ordinarily beautiful in the most unique sort of light. How I may be one in a million but I'm still lost in that sea. I don't know how you view me. So etch me onto parchment and confine me into symbols until I can understand what you see.
