we are the youth

hi

hello

is this thing on?

do you see me?

can you hear me?

maybe I'm not speaking clearly

let me back it up

slow it down

President Hoover once said

"Older men declare war.

But it is the youth that must fight and die."

we are the youth

and we are tired of fighting your war

we are more

than a population

to rule and reign over

and each day is a day closer

to when we rule over you

we are screaming

can you hear it?

that's redundant

we know you can

but our cries don't fit in your agenda

when your promises are a collection

no, a well chosen selection

to guarantee re-election

let me make an objection

I object

to the politics

and corruption

that rule over us all

campaign money

from Big Pharma

and Big Oil

have spoiled the intentions

of democracy

making the aristocracy

the unofficial Commander-In-Chief

if someone tells you

that we are not governed by an Oligarchy

they are feeding you a load of malarkey

our nation has become a hierarchy

pushing us to the bottom

and I'm sick of it

we are not the future

we are the now

we decide when and how

change is made

your time is up

we've had enough

of your lethargic

and well-funded approach

to legislation

consider this a condemnation

a declaration

of detestation

for the way you have allowed

our nation to run

you're time is done

we don't have time

for our time to come

so our time is now

we'll take Washington by storm

so thank you for keeping our congress seats warm

but now is the time to back away

because we are the youth

and our day is today

This poem is about:
My country
Our world
