We Live Happily Ever After
And they lived happily ever after.
Fairy tales live on in our memories
As a happy story, life, and ending
They've been watching us for years on end,
Watching us grow, change, and leave
Trying to make our own fairy tales in life
And realizing that fairy tales are just that --
Tales,
Imaginiation,
Myth.
Prince Charming nowhere to be found
All I see is despair, regret, and stress in a mound
No spells, sorcery, seven dwarfs
Just left with grief, seven of them.
But we know,
We know that happiness is ephemeral
We stop desiring it all because nothing is eternal
We make a compromise with life
Find love, friendship, and camaraderie
Pursue aspirations and ways to be me
And eventually return.
Hold the book in one hand
And the child's hand in the other,
I return
Once upon a time, that is.
