We Must See

Wed, 05/10/2017 - 23:13 -- CMT2670

O, say we must see,
That the dawn's early light,
Has not been so bright,
When America is in blight
So ready to fight
each other
Over opinions, being minions to those
Who hold dominion, over our rights and voices
Choices, that are no longer ours to make
Great would the profits be, for a company’s wake
What is so proudly hailed?
When we have failed, to listen
Opting instead to imprison, and dismiss them
Is this the twilight's last gleaming?
Have we lost meaning, resorting to demeaning
Others, lovers, brothers, mothers,
One after another, we shout and cry out
Giving no buffer for others to speak
Giving no buffer to compromise, that would lead us to promise
Each other, to look out for one another
For while we in fight
Those broad stripes and bright stars,
Are truly being held, by those who would not fail
To battle in the dimly lit night
Through the perilous fight,
While over the ramparts we fail to watch,
The soldiers that fought
For the stripes
That were so gallantly streaming.
For the rocket's red glare,
The bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night,
That our flag was still there
That even though all was laid bare
That the star spangled banner still waves,
We must come together so we can save
A way to pave
For a future where we listen
For a future that glistens
We must come together too truly say
this is the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
