Welcome to the Masquerade

Whatever you do, don't be yourself

Not sure how to act without being true?

Well, just pick up this mask and let yourself fade

Welcome to the masquerade

No one is perfect, that much is true

But if you wear this mask nobody will see the real you

Let me make the mouth a bit slier

It helps you look less like an outsider

If you start to feel burdened by this heavy facade

This smile should conceal your hidden fraud

Because even if you seem unconvincing

Nobody can question a false smile without wincing

It may be because they endure the same plight

And talking about it is an agonizing smite

Whatever the reason they won’t dare ask the question

Even if their reticence results in deeper depression

Nobody is brave enough to butcher this silence

We are too weak to muster enough defiance

Everybody is just too afraid

We keep on marching in the masquerade
