What I Want

What do I want to do?

I want to go to college.

I want to experience the world.

I not only want to learn about nature,

but how to save and preserve our ecosystem.

If I cannot rebuild all that has been destroyed,

If I cannot clear the poisoned waters,

If I cannot clean the smog filled skies,

Then I will do my best to protect what is left

And teach others to do the same.

For I dread to see a silent spring,

Or a starless night,

Or a treeless park,

These are the last things I want.

I want a house with a picket fence,

I want all the comforts of a modern life,

But I also want future generations to know woods what I have known

To see the stars I’ve seen

To listen to the boisterous birds I’ve heard at the start of spring.

As I set out this journey of life, I see many paths that I can walk,

But I realize that I can only choose one,

I know that all I want…

Is to make a diference
