What They DIDN'T Tell Us

They taught us well.

They taught us everything we know.

But how much do we really know?

Math, science, history.

What value does that hold?

Maybe we will be accepted to the college of our dreams.

The problem?

Reality won't be so accepting.

They told us to do our best at our work.

They didn't tell us how life really works.

They taught us how to have safe sex.

They didn't tell us how to raise a baby when our "safe" sex doesn't turn out to be that safe.

For years we heard about people dying in war.

We were never told how to cope with laying our brother in the grave.

We never learned how to pay bills.

We never learned how to buy a house.

They never taught us to spend our money wisely.

They never taught us to pay off debt when we fail to spend our money wisely.

We were fish out of water in the real world.

We had no parents, no authority.

We never learned to provide for ourselves.

We learned a lot in school.

But how much of it matters?
