When Silence is Power

Fear carries us, but so do voices.

Pencil and paper can be used for most of this.

You do not need a voice to be heard.

I thought you did, but reality turned.

Depression hit and a diary was not much.

Too many thoughts in my head, I thought "this is enough".

My fiery red haired best friend came in the end.

I would tell her everything and she would too with no need to pretend.

The world was not alright, we both agreed.

She told me to voice my opinion, even if it is not needed, just to be free.

"Who knows who is listening and is in need?"

For me, Tumblr came when everything was quiet, and yet I was not free.

It gave me something similar almost like a key.

I unlock my phone and click the app.

I was on Tumblr constantly, stuck on it like sap.

I replogged posts from similar teens, it seemed like everyone was just like me.

They all admitted to do weird activities.

They all loved pizza, cats, and were sometimes sad just like me.

They were similar, and voiced their opinions in thousands.

I thought "Maybe I should expand, and start my own crowd".

I logged into my Tumblr, my social media account.

From day one of using this site, I felt free and out of sight.

But at the same time I felt open and powerful.

With millions of users on Tumblr, I could say what I wanted.

With a cost or just to flaunt it.

I could write simple Hikus.

Or simple "I love You's".

To remind everyone and myself that we were loved.

Tumblr gave me a voice and therefore I spoke it.

With letters come words, and with words come meanings.

You cannot stay forever in your head.

So speak your mind, you never know who is listening.

From a single recognition of the button "Like" you can be heard.

You do not know what you are missing.

Just to remind one person of something that you have an interest in is enough.

Because to remind them that they share something in common with another,

They might not feel as alone,

And the world might seem a little less tough.
