Where I'm From

I'm from the meadow
I'm from the shore
I'm from no place you would adore
Where I come from, it shapes me
But in my new life, I am free
Where I'm from, everyone knows my name
but to go back, would only bring me pain
I come from faith,
I come from tragedy
Never far apart
But through my experiences,
I've got heart
I'm from the wind, the trees
and the dirt on my knees
From the sweet sound of laughter
to the stern hush, that comes after
I'm from the soft sound of whispering waves
and the silent passing of light rays
I'm from death without reason
and from faith through the seasons
I will never forget where I came from,
but that past is all behind me
My new life has begun,
and that is where my mind be
