A Whispered Wish

I asked Santa, yes, whispered in his ear

Oh Santa, Santa, Santa dear

Please just a little trip, oh how I'd love to go

O'er the mountains yes even thru snow.

All just to visit my dear Aunt Caro.

Well it' Christmas Day with gifts galore

The wrapping paper all on the floor.

I looked and looked but no sign did I see,

For that special gift just for me.

Not a box, a letter, a word, or look.

Did Santa forget or was I really that bad?

I felt so down and so sad.

It's  time for bed and a kiss goodnight,

I drifted off to sleep, my eyes shut tight.

Then ever so slowly I heard the floor creak.

Someone's in my room trying not to make a peep.

I cracked open one eye to take a look,

Seeing only my mom packing some books.

She leaned over quietly, I asked for the time,

She said oh about two I'm ready to go.

How bout you?

My feet hit the floor with a tear in my eye.

I gave her a hug for this wonderful surprise.

Santa had checked his list,

It has only the best.

So I hopped in the car, just as I was,

As my Mommy drove through Christmas Night.

Through rain and snow, oh what a sight.

We passed mountains and hills,

And finally arrived cold and somewhat chilled.

To wish my Aunt Caro a very Merry Christmas.

I am glad I didn't miss this.

So if you ever have a special wish...

Whisper softly and

Stay at the top of Santa's list.
