Rape Culture

Who is at fault?

The girl who was drunk, scantily clad,

an obviously promiscuous woman,

or the boy whose whole future is at stake

because of this wild accusation.

'What will future employers think,

what will become of his athletic career?' They'll ask.

'She regrets what she did and is trying to

cover up her embarrassment by blaming him.' They'll say.

'Who cares that her whole world is shattered,

that she can no longer trust anyone not to hurt her,

that it wasn't her fault.' They'll think.

She didn't want it, didn't consent to it, didn't know what was happening.

'She should've been more cautious.' They'll teach.

'He is just a poor boy with a ruined future.' They'll pity.
