willow tree

an escape from the noise

from the chaos within

i slipped out the door

and climbed the old tree on the corner.

it was a clear night -

stars sparkled, suspended low over the fields.

the moon was only a glimmering sliver,

but it shone with a soft, strong light.

everything around me was illuminated, flooded with moonlight.

sitting on my favorite branch,

i gazed upwards, lost

in the captivating beauty of the endless night sky

and the silhouette of the tree branches against the bright moon

still shadows my dreams.
