Won't You Stay?

Tiny faerie, the sun is not yet up
I will prepare your tea
If only you will stay.
How sweet the cream is
How sweet your dreams.
Would you only leave in the morning
When I can't see your glow?
And as I sleep
Won't you stay?

Little faerie,
Won't you play a song
On your tiny violin
And my flute will sing along?
Let us play now while the night is young
But alas, I sleep in the morning
Lest the sun burn my eyes crimson
And I can't see your soft glow

How I laughed when i first heard you chirp
Though at first I was frightened
Of the unfamiliar tune in my ears
Which I could not then decipher,
And still to this night cannot
And yet we still speak
For no words are needed

So little faerie,
Tell me truthfully,
Who were you once?
Who are you now?
Surely, you weren't born yesterday,
For I saw you the day before.

I am just a lonely spirit
With only the night ahead of me,
With moon and stars in my eyes
But now I am two spirits
If only you will stay

But surely you must have a family
A mother? A father? A child?
I have nothing but the four walls
Whilst you must return home
And as I sleep, will you promise
To come again the next night
When again I will ask
" won't you stay?"
