The Work that Lies Ahead

When you are young,

The world is pure and clean.

You are free from problems,

And it feels as though the world is at your feet.

But as you grow older,

Problems will grow with you.

Your eyes become clear,

To the work you now must do.

For you know that the problems of the past,

Can not simply be forgotten.

For if we forget,

The fruits of our generation will soon be rotten.

So we must rise to the challenge,

And defeat what lies ahead.

It is up to us to fix this world,

Or the problem will only spread.

But as you grow taller,

You also grow tired.

So we must convey to younger generations,

Their duties for the world they will soon acquire.

For one day they will be grown,

Just as you will very soon be.

And we must ensure that they know,

That future generations are the key.
